HOW TO MEASURE YOUR RING SIZE: A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE
Your Ring Size Guide in Three Easy Steps: Because the Perfect Fit Means Everything
Planning to propose, looking to buy a ring. Is it time to drop a not-so-subtle hint? It all begins with step one: knowing the correct ring size. Whether you’re marking a milestone, rewarding yourself, or looking to propose to your loved one, getting the correct ring size ensures your ring is the perfect fit and the memory lasts forever. A diamond may seal the deal, but the perfect fit makes it unforgettable. Follow our simple three-step guide and get it right the first time.
Discovering the correct ring size can be a simple process and can be done in the comfort of your own home. You can even do it while browsing which ring to add to your cart! Shimansky has put together a helpful set of steps that you can follow.
We've implemented the steps and created two useful, downloadable PDFs for our local (South Africa) clients and international shoppers.

Your Unique Hands – Let the Knuckle Be Your Guide

Your knuckles matter. If your knuckle is wider than the base of your finger, size up by half a size to make sliding the ring on and off easier. This is especially important for eternity bands and intricate styles that can’t easily be resized. We always recommend visiting our stores in person when possible. We have the solution for a large knuckle for a perfect fit.
Measure More Than Once

Ring sizes aren’t static; your fingers can swell or shrink with changes in weather, temperature, and time of day. Measure multiple times to get a consistent and reliable result.
💡 Morning measurements may differ from evening ones. Aim for a comfortable fit that lasts all day, every day and allow for slight space.
The String Method – Simple and Effective
No tools? No problem. Wrap a piece of string, thin ribbon, or a strip of paper around the base of your finger, mark where it overlaps, and measure the length in millimetres. Just be gentle, pulling too tight can lead to an inaccurate size.
🎯 Precision counts. Once you have the number, match it to the chart in our downloadable guide.

Bonus: Know Your Sizing System
Not all countries use the same ring size system.
-
US & Canada: Numeric sizing
-
UK, SA, Australia: Alphabetical sizing
Our guide includes a conversion chart and several ways to measure your ring size. Our team is always available to help you convert and choose the correct one.
